Pocatello Idaho

Pocatello Idaho is a small town of about 55,000 people in Southern Idaho.  The closest large city is Salt Lake City Utah, which is 165 miles to the South.  Twin Falls Idaho is about 112 miles to the West.  Twin Falls and Pocatello are very similar in size as Twin Falls population is about 56,000.

Downtown_Pocatello_Idaho_2004According to Wikipedia,The median income for a household in the MSA was $34,455, and the median income for a family was $40,439. Males had a median income of $32,866 versus $22,263 for females. The per capita income for the MSA was $15,578.

“Outdoor Life magazine’s April issue ranks Lewiston second and Pocatello fifth for best places for hunters and anglers to call home in the nation. Coeur d’Alene made the list at 31, Payette at 34, and Rexburg rounded out Idaho’s contributions at 43 for the list of 200 towns.”

In ranking Lewiston and Pocatello, Outdoor Life looked for places with “world-class hunting and fishing, easy access to public land and water, and vibrant economies that remain affordable and hospitable.”

Also, Forbes Magazine ranked Pocatello as an outstanding place for starting a business.  Apparently the appreciated Idaho’s acceptance of entrepreneurs and the town’s easy permitting processes.
